How To Buy An Infant Carseat

Every new or even reoccurring mother knows that before that baby comes there is one very important thing to learn and buy. The dreaded infant carseat! Most people look at all of the different little seats and see the bright colors and the cute little teddy bear or princess design. Whether it is made for a boy or a girl. Things sure have changed. So many choices now. They may love the new designs, but they are forgetting the most important part of the purchase. The infants safety.

There are many things to look at before the important choice of the infant carseat. The age limit on the seat is the first one. If it is for an infant you must get an infant seat. They have made these seats a little easier to install by adding the ever popular base. This may seem like a great addition to the complication of the infant carseat, but when it comes to a study on them the seat failed in a front on collision. The base separated from the seat in almost eighty percent of the time. Be sure to get a good one. In this case you really get what you pay for.

The next thing to remember is the weight and age limits on every seat. Never move your child to a front facing seat before he or she is ready. It can cause the seat to fail and the child to become injured during a crash.

Some of the newer cars today have a great addition in them. It has extra child seat straps for an infant carseat to fit the correct way. It makes the seat stay in tighter than it may if it was used with just a regular seat belt. The best thing to do before you put that precious life in that new seat is to have a person from hospital staff look over it in the car and see if it is in right.

The best thing to remember when looking to purchase the infant carseat for your precious child is not to go for the pretty frilly looking one. Go by the one with the best crash test ratings and the one that has received awards for its safety. After all isn’t the safety of that precious new life the most important thing of all.
